LOUIS BARTHÉLEMY X CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN

The creative collaboration with Christian Louboutin led to the making of commissioned appliquéd tapestries for his newly renovated boutiques in Paris.

« Loubouxor » commissioned for the women’s store is inspired by the zodiac of Denderah, on display at the Louvre Museum. It is a breathtaking bas-relief from Ancient Egypt depicting the vault of the sky and its constellations. It was originally located in the temple of Hathor north of Luxor, a place for the worship of the goddess of love and festivities.

This joyful interpretation of this zodiac, representing gods and goddesses being offered stilettos celebrates the fantastic world of Christian Louboutin, himself a « passionné » of Egypt !

The piece required 6 months of work, the transcription of the design on the canvas and the complexity of the embroidery are the result of ancestral Egyptian savoir-faire.

A second tapestry depicts a fantastic pyramid of iconic shoes commissioned by Christian Louboutin is decorating his men’s store right next door.

The original khayameya appliquéd and embroidered tapestry named « Loubouxor » was then revisited into an allover pattern applied on pumps, sandals, boots, sneakers …
Playful and irresistibly pharaonic, a nod to Louboutin’s Egyptian roots !
